Child Therapy and Parent Consultations

Child Therapy

Therapy with children often looks different than traditional talk therapy. Our clinicians are trained in multiple evidence-based clinical interventions in direct work with children. Additionally, parents are a valuable change agent in their children’s well-being and parent consultation sessions are another effective treatment option to manage many childhood symptoms and behaviors.

As mental health professionals, we are experts in child development. However, as a parent, you are an expert on your own child. Our interventions are designed based on a child and family’s needs, as well as the child’s developmental stage.

Typically, individual child therapy sessions involve a combination of individual work and family- based intervention. Many treatments include hands-on activities, structured exercises, and play.

In our work with teens, we strive to respect their primary developmental goal— to develop their individual identity— while also remaining conscious of their family and social needs. While it is appropriate for some teenagers to participate fairly autonomously in therapy, others thrive with more consistent participation from their parents.

Parent Consultations

Parent consultation sessions prioritize the parent as the change agent. They're focused on your specific concerns with your child(ren) and family. Our clinicians provide psychoeducation, specific interventions and recommendations for you to address and implement within your family and with your child.

We collaborate with parents to develop the best treatment plan for the children we work with in our office and make recommendations according to your individual family’s goals and needs. We encourage parents to submit an inquiry that includes the age of your child and current concerns for an initial recommendation.
